This supplement adds to our Privacy Policy. It explains how Wideway Motors LLC, which sells our vehicles, and Skyline JDM Inc, which operates this website and collects payments (together doing business as Skyline Kei Trucks, "we", "us"), handle personal information when you ask about, reserve, buy, pick up or ship a vehicle from us, whether online, by phone, by text, by email or at our Houston lot. If this supplement and the Privacy Policy say different things about a vehicle inquiry, deposit or purchase, this supplement controls.
1. Information we collect for vehicle sales
- Contact and order details: your name, address, phone number, email address, the vehicles you ask about or buy, deposit and payment records, and the messages you send us.
- Identity documents: to complete a sale, release a vehicle or prepare paperwork, we ask for a copy of your driver's license or other government-issued ID and record its number on the bill of sale. If someone picks up a vehicle for you, we may ask for their ID as well.
- Payment information: card payments are processed by Shopify and its payment partners. We do not see or store your full card number. For wire transfer, ACH or cashier's check payments, we keep the transaction details we need for our records.
- Shipping details: delivery address, contact person and phone number, carrier and dates.
- Agreement records: when you check the as-is agreement box on a vehicle page or sign a bill of sale, we keep a record of your agreement with your order.
- Website and device information: collected through cookies, pixels and similar tools, as described in Section 4.
2. How we use it
- To answer your questions, reserve vehicles, process deposits and payments, and complete sales.
- To verify your identity, prevent fraud, and make sure each vehicle is released to the right person.
- To prepare the bill of sale and the import paperwork you need to title and register the vehicle.
- To arrange pickup or shipping.
- To send you marketing emails about new arrivals if you sign up for them or agree to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email.
- To measure and improve our website and our advertising.
- To keep business, tax and legal records, enforce our Terms of Sale, resolve disputes and comply with the law.
We do not use copies of your ID for marketing or advertising.
3. Who we share it with
- Between our two companies: Wideway Motors LLC and Skyline JDM Inc share your information with each other as needed to handle your inquiry, payment and purchase.
- Shopify and payment processors, which host our store and process payments. Shopify may also use some information under its own privacy policy, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Shipping carriers: if you ask us to help arrange shipping, we give the carrier your name, the pickup and delivery addresses, your phone number and the vehicle details.
- Online marketplaces such as eBay: we also list vehicles on marketplaces. If you contact us or buy through a marketplace, that marketplace collects and handles your information under its own privacy policy, and we receive your order and contact details from it.
- Advertising and analytics providers such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google Ads and Google Analytics, as described in Section 4.
- Government agencies, courts and others when required or permitted by law, for example to respond to a subpoena, to meet import, tax or vehicle record-keeping rules, or to protect our rights and prevent fraud.
- A buyer or successor if either company's business is sold, merged or reorganized.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Some state laws treat the use of advertising cookies and pixels as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; Section 4 explains how to opt out. We do not share copies of your ID with anyone outside our two companies except when the law requires it or with your permission.
4. Cookies, pixels and targeted advertising
Our website uses cookies, pixels and similar technologies from Shopify, Meta, Google Ads and Google Analytics. These tools collect information such as the pages and vehicles you view, your device and browser type, your IP address and approximate location, and may combine it with information those companies already have about you. We use this to understand how visitors use our site and to show ads for our vehicles on other websites and apps. These companies handle the information under their own privacy policies.
Your choices:
- Use our Your Privacy Choices page to opt out of the use of your information for targeted advertising.
- We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a request to opt out for that browser.
- You can also adjust your ad settings with Meta and Google, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Do Not Track: other than Global Privacy Control, our website does not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, because there is no common industry standard for them.
5. Calls and text messages
If you call or text us, we use your phone number to reply about your inquiry or purchase. We do not send marketing text messages. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply.
6. How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. These include limiting access to ID copies and sales files to staff who need them, keeping paper records in a secure location, and shredding or permanently erasing records that contain sensitive information when we no longer need them. However, no website, email, text message or storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us. Regular email and text messages are not fully secure; if you prefer, you can show your ID in person instead of sending a copy.
7. How long we keep it
We keep bills of sale, deposit and payment records, agreement records and copies of ID for as long as reasonably necessary to complete the sale, meet legal, tax, import and accounting record-keeping requirements, and resolve disputes. When we no longer need records that contain sensitive personal information, we shred, erase or otherwise make them unreadable. We keep marketing email information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
8. Your requests
You may ask us to tell you what personal information we have about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email contact@skylinejdm.com or call (713) 385-9798. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We may keep information that we are required or permitted by law to keep, such as records of completed sales. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond within the time required by law.
9. Security incidents
If a security breach affects your sensitive personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.
10. Minors
Our website and vehicles are intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to reserve or buy a vehicle. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Disputes
To the extent permitted by law, any dispute about this supplement or our Privacy Policy is governed by our Terms of Sale, including its binding individual arbitration agreement, class action waiver and Texas governing-law provisions.
12. Changes to this supplement
We may update this supplement from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If we make a material change to how we use personal information we have already collected, we will give notice as required by law.
